Another arrest made at Westfield drug house
WESTFIELD — A house synonymous with drug activity was targeted again on Thursday night.
Narcotics investigators from multiple agencies in Chautauqua County executed a search warrant at 7167 Felton Road around 9:45 p.m. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, City of Dunkirk Police Department and City of Jamestown Police Department participated in the warrant.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's office SWAT made entrance into the residence. Located inside the residence was Mark C. Baker, 34. As a result of the search, investigators seized 20.73 grams of methamphetamine, 10.28 grams of cocaine, 7 dosage units of Alprazolam, scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics, three high-capacity magazines and $187. Baker was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Baker was transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office for the centralized arraignment program.
This residence, last fall, had two drug busts in September that led to charges against nine individuals, including Baker.
Authorities continue to ask members of the community to call and report suspicious or narcotics related activity within their neighborhoods. ¯ PORTLAND — A routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase on Wednesday evening.
At around 6:43 p.m. deputies were conducting routine patrol on Route 20 when they observed a vehicle eastbound operating at a high rate of speed. Deputies immediately turned around and activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle.
The vehicle did not yield to law enforcement and attempted to flee in the motor vehicle. The pursuit ended in the village of Fredonia where the operator was placed into custody. Oleksandr Popadiuk, 49, from East Haven, Conn., was charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle, speed in zone, improper passing, speed over 55 mph, reckless driving and unlicensed operation. Popadiuk was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail and will be in Portland town court later.
¯ DUNKIRK — The Sheriff's office Marine division is investigating a collision between two personal watercrafts that occurred in Lake Erie near the Dunkirk City Pier around 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Omaira Casablanca, 24, was a passenger and was transported to the hospital by Dunkirk Fire and Rescue for a non-life threatening injury. Others involved, according to the release, were Midalys Rivera-Ortiz, 19 and C.J. Rivera-Ortiz, 22. An investigation was continuing.
¯ BUSTI –At 11:24 p.m. Thursday, fire departments from Lakewood and Ashville responded to a report of a structure fire on Route 474. After the fire was extinguished, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to conduct an origin and cause investigation. Through investigation, it was determined that the fire originated above a drop ceiling as a result of faulty electrical wiring and is accidental in nature. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
¯ HANOVER — Cordarrell Anderson, 33, of Buffalo, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Around 5:36 p.m. Monday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Routes 5 and 20 for an alleged traffic violation. Through an investigation it was found that Anderson failed to stop at a stop sign. He is scheduled to be in town court later.
